In February, 2020, I was part of a 300+ person downsizing at a major publicly traded company. I had an executive role with them for about 5 years. This was just before the onset of Covid in the US, so the job market wasn’t great. My wife showed me a wood laser and thought I’d be good at it, so I purchased one. Today, Downsized Designs runs seven lasers in our Carmel, Indiana workshop. We’re a top seller on Etsy with more than 36,000 sales — and growing every month.

Downsized Designs is a Carmel, Indiana workshop creating original laser-cut and laser-engraved wood products — personalized ornaments, Colossal indoor plant trellises, charcuterie boards, wall art, and more. Everything is designed by us and made to order in our workshop. We also build for businesses: custom display racks and signage for local retailers, and personalized corporate gifts people actually keep. You’ll find everything in our shop at downsizeddesigns.net — or on Etsy, if that’s where you’re comfortable. Follow along on Facebook and Instagram @downsized_designs.
